Labor is the x-factor in construction over the next few years because the labor pool is greatly diminished and it is not clear it will come back. This page is intended to illustrate the situation and one solution. The situation, in orange, is that the annual change in construction volume outstrips the supply of labor—which is flat. One solution is the utilization of manufactured components in custom home construction. Manufactured housing has never managed to catch on in the U.S. despite waves of interest going back to the early 20th Century. We are betting now is the time, a rational response to the increasing difficulty of managing personnel (and cost) in home construction.
